Tomato Mountain is a 12-acre certified organic farm and processing kitchen located 25 miles south of Madison, Wisconsin. We focus on plants in the spring, tomatoes in the summer, and our kitchen products year-round.
Tomato Mountain Farm started in 1993, when farmer-owner Chris Covelli purchased a 10-acre tract of land about 25 miles south of Madison, Wisconsin. Chris quickly transitioned it from conventional corn and soybeans to organic production, where he grew a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, selling to farmers' markets, restaurants, and stores, while also running the farm as a CSA. Just a few years ago, he built a processing kitchen where he started making salsas, preserves, soups, and other jarred products like pasta sauce and Bloody Mary mix, which have come to represent the bulk of Tomato Mountain's business and a unique example of an organic farm and kitchen that processes and grows all its own ingredients (save a few like sugar, salt, and olive oil) right at home.
Our goal is to grow the highest quality certified organic crops to create a simple and consistent line of products. By growing nearly all of our ingredients right on the farm as well as paying attention to varieties, growing conditions, and recipes, we make products that can't be found anywhere else at any price.
We preserve the best, organically produced tomatoes, harvested at the peak of ripeness. We don't hide behind the label or try to hide inferior ingredients with our cooking process. The very best products result only when the best ingredients go in. We approach quality with integrity. We sell our products in several markets, including Chicago, Milwaukee, and Madison, including the Saturday Farmers' Market.
